Udaya Gammanpila: Fuel price
Abstract
TRUE: The CPC incurs a loss of Rs. 19 from each 92-Octane Petrol litre…and a loss from a litre of diesel is Rs. 52…. The government levies Rs. 42 on a 92-Octane petrol litre…and Rs. 17 on a diesel litre. [The CPC’s loss per day is a whopping Rs 551 million and the finance ministry collects Rs 364 million daily from the CPC as government taxes] If these levies are removed, the CPC’s loss can be minimized.–Udaya Gammanpila, Daily News, 21 February 2022.
