    Abstract
In the month of June 2022, the following media ethics violations took place in relation to reporting of the political crisis. The tv channels Sirasa, Swarnawahini, Siyatha, Hiru, Derana, had the news coverage of the police firing tear gas at protestors in front of police headquarters in headlines, while ITN and Rupavahini did not have the news on their headlines. The tv channels ITN and Rupavahini reports of a conspiracy against the government through the protests that took place in Galle Face Green and in front of the Temple Trees. However, none of the other tv channels reported this story. The tv channels Rupavahini and ITN reported the protests in GotaGoGama that took place as an attempt to disrupt IMF discussions while Sirasa and Derana reported that the same protests took place against the president’s birthday.
