Abstract
On 27 September 2022, Mawbima and on 29 September 2022, Lankadeepa, published articles unnecessarily highlighting the profession of an individual accused of sexual harassment of students by using the term ‘gura’ (ගුරා), thereby negatively labelling the profession of teaching. Similarly, on the 22 and 29 September 2022, Dinamina also published articles covering the same news story by using the term ‘gura’ (ගුරා), also adding a negative label to the teaching profession.
