හැඟීම් කළඹවන සුළු වාර්තාකරණයක්?

Abstract

On 24 July 2023, Sinhala newspapers published articles on an incident in Vavuniya where a group of masked persons attacked a home and set in on fire, which resulted in the death of a female. The newspapers Mawbima, Lankadeepa, Divaina, Ada, Aruna had published images of the deceased female. Mawbima had gone a step further by including a picture which depicts the group of thugs who had killed the woman after setting the house on fire. Such reportage has been driven by a need to sensationalise the news story.
